Hi and welcome to the Acme Pet Transport list.
On Nov. 25th, 2003 Claire Walters found a message regarding the possibility of the AcmePet Transport list shutting down. She responded to Christina (the original maintainer of the list) telling her she would take over the duties to maintain the list.
Instead of maintaining a document manually with volunteer drivers - Claire created a forum to allow drivers to post their names on the volunteer driver list. This section is broken up into geographic regions. The volunteer driver section is an open resources to use as reference for transport coordinators who need drivers to help with transports.
This site
consists of all volunteers (no paid staff) willing to rescue and transport rescued pets of
all different shapes and sizes from all over the United States
and Canada.
Acme Pet Transport volunteers help in various areas, transports, coordinating transports, our forum also has the following sections, animals that need adoption, a list of people willing to foster, resources for those willing to do home visits, rescue groups can list info about their group, long haulers & truckers can post their trips int he drivers & flyers avail forum - there's a wealth of resources that can expedite the safety of rescue animals.
The forum has a group of moderators who help members, answer questions, guide people in the right direction, make sure info is easily found and available for those in need of help with rescued animals.
Acme Pet Transport and all its efforts happen because of our moderators/volunteers & all the members who put in endless hours helping in various areas to help the animals.
The forum is like a family of people working together with the same goal. If you want to get involved in rescue or need help with rescue animals or just want to chat and be part of the family - stop by the forum and browse around.

Thank you!

Saving one dog will not change the world........... But, surely, for that one dog the world will change forever!
Below is an intro from Christina that
was on the original site...
Before I go on, I would like to thank everyone who volunteers
their time and effort to help out.
Many on the list come from the old Acme Pet Transport message
boards. Now that Acme Transport message boards has closed, the
list has found a new home with FurKids and their Rescue and Transport
board. Of course, this isn't an exclusive club -- anyone is free
to add themselves. That's merely where the list originated from.
A regular on the board wished to compile a list because there
were times she would come in and just miss something she could
help with. Hopefully this website will become a helpful source
to those who need it.
If you don't know what this is.. well, bear with me. You've found
the perfect pet for you.. unfortunately, it's also 200 miles away.
So what do you do? Start a chain of volunteers!
Please respect everyone who has been kind enough to volunteer
their information and do not abuse it.
